Steve Herman has been a member of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists since 1971.
He served as New York Chapter Chairman in 1992, was presented the 50th Anniversary
Chapter Merit Award in 1995, and received Fellow status in 2002.

He has written a book, Fragrance Applications: A Survival Guide, several chapters and articles
on fragrance topics, and a regular column in GCI since 1998.

He has served as an Adjunct Professor in the Fairleigh Dickinson University Masters in Cosmetic
Science Program since 1993, teaching the Cosmetic Formulation Lab and Perfumery.

His experience in patents, technology transfer from universities, and intimate knowledge
of the fragrance and personal care industry has led to the formation of Diffusion llc, designed
to bring ideas from the academic laboratory and the inventor's bench to the marketplace.
